KeyCDN is CDN provider from Switzerland with 24 points-of-presence (PoPs) worldwide, and 8 more PoPs planned. The CDN service is part of proinity GmbH, a Swiss IT services company that’s also behind image optimiser Optimus.
KeyCDN was founded in 2012 by Jonas Krummenacher and Sven Baumgartner. Their network is non-federated; the entire infrastructure is owned by KeyCDN.
The provider’s feature offering includes two-factor authentication, DDOS protection, origin shield, real-time reporting and more than 24 CMS integrations such as with WordPress, Magento and Joomla.
Highwinds, or Highwinds Network Group, Inc. is a content delivery provider headquartered in Florida, US. The company was founded in 2002, and it owns and operates its own network called RollingThunder.
While serving businesses from every segment, Highwinds has a strong focus on the games industry. Notable customers include, or have included game publishers Valve, Wargaming, CCP Games and Renatus Media. Highwinds participates in the Google Cloud Platform CDN Interconnect program. The company has established private interconnects between 28 of its own points-of-presence and Google’s Edge locations. These links provide low(er) latency routes between the infrastructures of both parties, and increased reliability when compared to content travelling over the public Internet. The peering agreements between Google and Highwinds are especially interesting for Highwinds customers who use the Google Cloud Platform as their origin. Additionally, the costs of egress traffic over the interconnects are reduced for Google customers. Other CDN providers that partake in Google’s Interconnect program are Akamai, Fastly, CloudFlare, Level3 and EdgeCast.
