MEDIANOVA Description

Medianova was founded in 2005 by a team of entrepreneurs with a background in live football games. Operating in the web games market, the team had a need for streaming backbone services, and Medianova was born. The company is specialised in video and audio streaming solutions, and live encoding and streaming, and has a CDN.

The company is headquartered in İstanbul, and claims they have a 60% market share in Turkey, within the CDN and streaming market.

Medianova has a strong presence in Turkey, and the network coverage of their CDN is also concentrated in Turkey and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region.

As to their exact network map, there is no information publicly available.

While Medianova predominantly caters to the video and audio market, it also offers:

  • static content acceleration (branded MNCDN)
  • dynamic content acceleration (branded Aksela)
  • cloud storage
  • cloud hosting (branded LeaseCloud)

Customers of Medianova include, or have included Turkcell, Vodafone, Turkish Economy Bank, Milliyet, FOX Turkey, Çiçek Sepeti, NTV, Star TV, İzlesene, Enocta and Fizy (now Turkcell Müzik).

MEDIANOVA Resellers

Medianova works with a few resellers to distribute their products. Warpcache is one of their partners and offers Medianova services both separately, and integrated in their multi-CDN solution.

Medianova’s stronger presence in Turkey makes them an excellent provide to have in a multi-CDN mix, while the company does not have a global network.

INCAPSULA Description

Incapsula Inc. provides a variety of CDN services, from the network itself to security, load balancing, failover solutions and DDoS protection. The company spun out from data security company Imperva in 2009. Incapsula launched Botopedia in 2012, a directory that includes community-sourced information about bots.

At the core of Incapsula’s feature offering lies the content delivery network and a variety of security features such as web application firewall (WAF) and DDoS mitigation.

Incapsula composes comparison tables of its own, which can be viewed on their website - providers they compare themselves to are Akamai and CloudFlare. In the comparison tables they dive deeper into the various security features within the content delivery ecosystem.

Like most other CDN providers, Incapsula integrates well with a variety of Content Management Systems (CMS) and also offers a downloadable extension on their website for Joomla. The extension improves security and performance for Joomla. Other security solutions for third parties offered by Incapsula are targeted at clients hosting with Rackspace, Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS. All three of these also offer their own CDN solution.

Notable customers of Incapsula include, or have included WiX, BitStamp, Newsweek, Trello, eHarmony, General Electric, BNZ, LivePerson, SendGrid, Tango, **eToro, Moz and Hitachi.
