AppDynamics is a San Francisco-based IT operations analytics and application performance management (APM) provider. The company was founded in 2008 by Jyoti Bansal, who worked for APM tech provider Wily Technologies (now part of CA Technologies) prior to founding AppDynamics. Their services are centred around monitoring and managing the availability and performance of applications within a broad IT environment.
AppDynamics has numerous offices around the world, in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, Singapore, India and Japan.
Solutions offered by AppDynamics include, but are not limited to real-user monitoring (RUM) for browser and mobile, synthetic monitoring, database and server monitoring and application analytics.
AppDynamics got into hot water with CA Technologies, who filed a patent infringement suit against the company over their APM technology. CA Technologies had acquired the patents through their acquisition of Wily Technologies in 2006, the same company where Bansal had worked on the design and development of their performance management products. The dispute was settled two years later in favour of CA Technologies. Under a similar claim that Wily Technologies patents had been infringed on, CA Technologies went after New Relic in 2012.
While AppDynamics monitoring solution includes synthetic data and RUM data, we do not know whether their platform is suitable to use within a multi-CDN solution.
easyDNS Technologies Inc. or just easyDNS is a Canada-based Internet Service Provider founded in 1998. The company supplies web hosting, email, domain registration and managed Anycast DNS.
The company provides a REST based API to connect to the easyDNS platform, of which the documentation can be found here.
easyDNS has been the center of controversy a few times. Most notably is the aftermath of a confusion between the company and similarly-named EveryDNS. EveryDNS cut WikiLeaks off their DNS service, and easyDNS faced some of the resulting backlash due to mixups of both company names on Twitter. While initially being uninvolved with WikiLeaks, easyDNS now hosts three WikiLeaks domains, as per their request. These domains are wikileaks.org, wikileaks.ch and wikileaks.nl. Find more information on the affair here.
Clients of easyDNS include, or have included PHP, Debian, The Horde Project, Enlightenment, City of Toronto, thestar.com and Torstar, Versature, Sun Life Financial, Zero Hedge and Toronto 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games.
